                                 Eldridge Recasner

Eldridge Recasner former NBA Player, University of Washington Hall of Famer and Pac-12 Hall of Honor Member was a four-year starter for the University of Washington Men’s Basketball team from 1986-1990. He was a member of the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team (1987) along with being a 3-time All-Conference guard (1988, 1989, and 1990).  He is just one of only 3 Huskies ever to earn Pac-12 All-Conference honors 3 times during his career.  In addition, he was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Sporting News as a senior (1990).  He also holds the distinction of being the first 3-time captain and 3-time team MVP in the school’s history.  He finished his career as the Washington’s 3rd all-Time leading scorer with 1700 points, 2nd all-time in career assists with 367, 2nd in steals with 118, 4th in career free throw shooting percentage at 81.2% and 1st in 3-point field goals made with 119.   He still holds the record for most consecutive free throws made (33 from Jan 3-28, 1989). Recasner is one of only two Huskies to lead the team in scoring and assists twice during their career.  In 2002 he was selected as a member of the University of Washington’s Men’s Basketball All-Century Team.  In March of 2010 he was inducted into the Pac-12 Hall of Honor.  To cap off an outstanding career in October of 2010 he was inducted into the University of Washington’s Hall of Fame.

 

Following his distinguished career at the University of Washington, he played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for the Yakima Sun Kings, where he was named the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1995.  That same year he also led the Sun Kings to the 1995 CBA Championship after averaging 20.4 points a game and shooting 49.4% from 3-point range.

 

Recasner was able to parlay his MVP season into a contract with the NBA World Champion Houston Rockets and became a starter during the 1995-96 season.  He went on to play two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks 1996-98 and 4 seasons with the Charlotte Hornets 1998-2002 before wrapping up his NBA career with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2002.
